Asturian seafood pincho

Well, how better to start this blipfoto journal than with some susentance for my photographic journey.

So this evening, in Cimadevilla, the 'old town' of Gijón, Asturias, a mouth watering seafood 'brochete' consiting of king-prawns and monk fish with red and green peppers in a piquant sauce, washed down with a bottle of Asturian cider.

The bars in Cimadevilla are generous with their free bar snacks, 'tapas' and 'pinchos', but this is above and beyond the call of duty.

In fact this restaurant, the 'Mar de Bien' in Cimadevilla, is taking part in the 5th Asturian Championship of 'Pinchos' and 'Tapas'. This is their offering.

During the championship, participating bars and restaurants prepare the most imaginative and succulent snack that they can for ?2.

This year there are 91 establishments taking part in Gijón, 31 in Oviedo, 8 in Avilés, 7 in Mieres and another 19 in other towns and villages dotted around Asturias.
