Filaments

This Gerbera daisy was in bad shape when I got it. In a small bouquet of winter flowers, it had broken off at the head and was wilting fast. I tried to save it in a tiny dish, but it fell apart. Today I noticed that each petal has an array of silky filaments that connect it with the main body of the flower. Connection. How we crave connection. We spend our lives seeking connection, strengthening connection, holding on, and only when necessary, letting go. Tendrils and filaments of connection go on reaching out, even when we have lost it.
