Rubicon Summer

It was the first sunny morning for what seems like weeks. And for the second time this month the mountains were on show. How strange it was to look west and see them instead of that constant bank of cloud. The sky was a magnificent blue and sun shone continuously. It was so hot!

The green in the foreground is unusual for this time of year. Normally most of the land is golden.

There were a lot of southern black backed gulls around today, loose flocks flying low and slow. The adults were sleek, white and beautiful against the blue. Among them, flew brown youngsters and speckled adolescents. Their cries reminded me of the sea.
