I gam o gam*

An aerial view of Roquessels, taken from the viewpoint near the ancient church above the village. The bell-tower of the newer church in the village can be seen in the top left corner of this shot.

I've spent the morning with someone who describes 30 million years ago as recent - a geologist who is going to give a talk about the geology of the area around our village to the Cercle Occitan next week and who asked me to take photos to illustrate his lecture. Fascinating to listen to him and to have him point out things I wouldn't have noticed, like some tiny fossils in the rocks. One of the reasons the wine around here is potentially so good is that there is such a remarkable variety of rocks and soils in a small area.
