Our life in the Borders

Bonfire at the stables

A bright, breezy day today, lighting up the winter landscape. The Tweed valley around here is wide and fairly flat. Attempts today to do some planting in the garden today revealed that our soil is full of gravel and water-worn pebbles. The Tweed over many centuries, must have wound its way all over the valley bottom, leaving gravel and pebbles in its wake. Tom, next door, tells me that once you have managed to get something planted (not easy), it will do well. So here's hoping.
