Meanwhile, at the coast..

Ashtray Wednesday.....

......and my Grandma would be horrified if she saw this, because when this brass ashtray lived in HER house it shone like burnished gold. BTW, this is the bottom of the beast, I haven't accidently flipped the image, the lettering reads 'John Heine & Son Ltd, make presses, dies and machines for sheet metal working, Sydney NSW'......no idea how or why my grandparents had it and how it ended up in a small mining/market town in Northumberland, there's probably a story, must ask my Ma if she knows what it is........

EDIT: The Oracle (AKA my Ma) has spoken.....apparently my Grandma had an old school friend who emigrated to Oz, she and her family came 'home' to visit in the late 40's/early 50's (other information gleaned: name Sarah Milburn, though not sure whether that was her maiden or married surname, partial to strange hats and never seen without one, she also had a husband and two sons.....though that's probably not hat-related).......but if she wasn't the donor it's still a mystery........

Operation 'Empty the Freezer' status update.....
That big bag of chilli lives to fight another day, the last of it is going into some (frozen) puff pastry and hopefully turning into a pasty or 3.....I won't be making chilli for a while, or if I do it's definitely going into smaller bags......
