What is it about Lucozade? It's basically just sugary water, with no therapeutic benefits whatsoever. Yet I still have an emotional reaction to it when I'm feeling ill. It takes me back to my childhood when my mum would bring me one of the old fashioned glass bottles wrapped in orange cellophane if I was feeling poorly. Just the sight of it makes me feel better. So it was the only thing to hit the spot on Sunday when I was feeling sorry for myself. So this is what they mean by the placebo effect...
