Yes, we have plenty of bananas...

Some memories stay with you. I can remember going to Goa probably about ten years ago and eating what they called butter bananas. They looked rather blackened and unappetising and tasted divine.

So I was delighted to find that they had them in Kerala too. Small, soft and sweet, they taste very different to the mostly Caribbean bananas we have here in the UK. And in a pancake with honey...mmmm.

All the fruit in Kerala was succulent and ripe. Most of it wouldn't have passed the aesthetic test our supermarkets now set before they stock fresh produce. A lesson for us there?
