world in a grain of sand

walking with Grandpa

We had a lovely day today in Woodstock - we fed the ducks at Blenheim, and went out for lunch. Baby R walked a long way and managed to stay awake despite this. I had forgotten how walking at toddlers' pace gives you time to notice everything - this is much less frustrating when you have "no particular place to go" than when you are a harrassed mum trying to get the older sibling to school on time!
My two girls had a real sibling conversation in the bookshop

"would you like this copy of the Hobbit?"

"yes, thanks"

"I'll only buy it if you'll read it, not keep it on a shelf"

there's noone you can talk to like this except a partner or blood relative!
