Marwick

I didn't really have time to search out an image today as I was volunteering with the RSPB again. Today we were at The Loons reserve taking out an old barbed-wire fence. Quite tiring in that one's wellies were sinking deep into the mud and every step was a chore. Still, I enjoyed it, especially as it was getting rid of my arch-enemy: barbed-wire. There will be a new fence erected by a contractor, but ordinary wire. The fence is necessary because it is good to have cattle graze the marsh, but cattle from different farms have to be kept apart due to health supervision.

We actually finished before lunch so went down to Marwick to eat lunch there. Still lots of white-winged gulls...we counted over 60 Iceland and glaucous gulls at Marwick and on fields in the area.
