In Between Days

The Turks Head

The Southgate Business Centre used to be the Turks Head pub. It closed down a few years ago like a lot of pubs have done. It's on the edge of the town centre and on Southgate and is the pub we used to start a night out in before heading on into town, possibly via the chip shop you can see in the far left of the picture. The reason for heading here was that the pool table was only 10p a game and was usually fairly quiet. The pool room was the bottom one on the right hand side. In the background you can see Horsefair flats. Ten stories high and an adventure to go up when I was a kid. I can remember dropping water bombs off the top floor with a mate of mine. We thought it was a good idea at the time, luckily we didn't hit anyone!

I actually took pictures of this building on my way to the supermarket. We are thinking of having our windows replaced and one company that gave a quote did the windows here.

It's been a dull and cold day. It's also a sad day. Without being too specific, a relationship of some people close to us is breaking down and it is a terribly sad thing to see. I hope there is not too much unhappiness to come for everyone concerned.
