And Another Thing...

Back In The Game...

It's almost back to Gaelic season - Monkey Boy had to register during the week. As part of the lead up to the new season, the club organised a session for the coaches with former Antrim coach, John Morrison. And the club laid on a selection of players for John to demonstrate his ideas.

Like most things, it's all just common sense and so obvious, once John showed us! The key point he taught was how little actual coaching you need to do to get results. Most of his lesson consisted of getting the kids to play practice games, and then introducing special rules to limit what they could do; sending people off it they stop moving, no more than 3 seconds with the ball, only 5 passes or less in a move, that sort of thing. No explanation - just let the kids work out how to deal with it. And it was truly amazing how big an improvement they made in just one hour.

None of it strictly relevant to my responsibilities in the Nursery, but it's interesting to see what is expected of the kids as they progress.

Yummy Mummy gets to do the rugby supervision today, so I can't wait to find out how many tackles Princess got in from the touchline!
