Cold Air Balloon

In Olot to the west of us is the centre for ballooning for the Garottxa region. In the early mornings at the weekend we are often woken at about 7am to the gentle rhythmic hiss of the burners as the balloons drift over the house.

Today saw the first one of the season, well actually two, but the first one descended into a valley before I managed to get enough clothes on for decency and my lens cap off.

I was struck by the contrast between the hot air balloon and the obvious cold of the snowy mountain backdrop. Also the air currents must have been northerly as the craft drifted further and further away towards the limit of my view.

Never tried ballooning yet, has anybody with severe vertigo sampled a flight and managed to avoid blind panic?
