In the pink

At last the flowering cherries are living up to their names and producing some spring colour. It's a bit of a standoff between waiting for them to be in full bloom and waiting that day too long when the north wind destroys the show and dumps the flowers in the pool.

When we first came here in 1992 I excitedly gathered the fruits, thinking they were genuine cherries and so excited to have harvested the base of my planned cherry brandy. Alas the small fruits were so bitter and unpleasant that I soon gave up that idea.

Since then I have been content to enjoy the blossom and forgo the fruit, sure there is a life lesson in there somewhere.
