Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Dry lions

Grand-parenting duties were the order of the day today and involved a trip to the park where we saw a pride of 4 lions. Made of best Aberdeenshire granite they adorn a splendid fountain erected in 1901 for a Mr Alexander Cooper. Mr Cooper was a fruiterer by trade and you might therefore have expected him to have gone for water gushing from pineapples, or melons, but no, he chose lions. Sadly, the state of the nation being what it is, the lions no long spit out water, the cuts have cut deep!
