lollygagging...

...by the coots

on the lake... in the sun... in warm temperatures more like the middle of summer - than the end of winter... but i'm not complaining...

and do you like that word... lollygagging? have you heard it before? it's first known use was around 1868... it means - to spend time doing things that aren't useful or serious: to fool around and waste time... boo! sounds kinda like those things i enjoy doing... some other cool synonyms of lollygagg are: dillydally - dawdle - diddle - dally - linger - mope - tarry... aren't those just the most fun words ever? i don't have a clue who made them up - their origins or whatnot... but i love them...

i think, although the english language can be difficult, it is a lot of fun... words need to be played with more than we play with them. we tend to stick to the ordinary in our language and day-to-day... it's easy... it's what we know... to get out of our comfort zone with verbage - to venture out and explore is sometimes more of a challenge than we're willing to take on - however - i believe it's time to take the step forward... maybe learn a new word every day... branch out - expand our universe of vocabulary knowledge... what do you say? see how you already learned lollygagging - and it made for...

a

happy day.....
