Far from the madding crowd

Seems like a world away here, but right underneath this elegant arch, crowds gather and form an orderly snake while they wait their turn to ride the car to the top of the stunningly beautiful Eiffel Tower. We were not so patient and decided instead to take the stairs, which afforded a view from the first and second viewing platforms. We made it to the first platform when the rain came down in sheets, not the most pleasant of viewing conditions so we didn't venture any further up. Having both seen the Tower before, it seemed even more splendid this time around.

This is our final day in Paris so we took a walk along the Seine and whistle-stop visits to the Louvre and Orsay Museum. Outside, not in. Again breathtaking, but then there aren't many places in Paris that don't have that effect.

We have walked and walked over the last 3 days; no better way to see a city. We have enjoyed spending time as a couple again although the kids were never far from our thoughts and conversations. R has impressed me no end with his knowledge of the French language, although his pronunciation of 'rum' needs a little fine tuning - got to roll that 'r'!

Paris. Je t'aime.
