Tree Fern

Standing under the fronds of a tree fern watching the light filtering through and catching glimpes of the blue sky above, all was quiet and calm.

Tree ferns are a common, characteristic and attractive feature of the New Zealand bush. There are eight species on the main islands. They colonise on
open south-facing slopes and clearings in the forest. Their ancestry dates back to at least 100 million years.

My day started at the gym before heading to the estuary. It was a little grey but with hints of the sky lightening up, a little cool but quite calm. This afternoon the sun burnt through the clouds, warm and bright, lovely to be standing under this tree fern.

BBQ for tea and then a quiet evening, just the way I like it :)
