Giant Peacock Moth

Well I was expecting to post a hairy hound picture but instead here's a hairy moth.

This Giant Peacock Moth looks like it has escaped from Jurassic Park; it's Europe's largest moth and is as big as your hand!

Since we're dog sitting, we've headed up to the cortijo this weekend for long country walks. This beautiful moth greeted us, sitting on the grass by the front door - in Andalucía it's a sign of good luck :-)
