On the beach

All drama last night when the burning heather was very near one of the houses. Luckily it didn't reach the house but the flames were twenty feet high as a whin bush went up. I wasn't there so I didn't get a photo. The fire was slowing creeping towards our fence and we were worried that it would go through the fence and reach a huge area we have covered in whins. Much to our relief it stopped about 3 feet short of the fence and had gone out.. See some pictures here.
Today was another warm sunny day so I started off pulling a few weeds in the garden. I was going to Durness about 11.30 am to the Foodlink Seedy Sunday but we discovered in the excitement of worrying about the fire we forgot to change the clocks. We decided anyway to go a run up to Durness and take the dogs to Balnakeil beach. The beach was empty and the dogs enjoyed a good run on the soft sand and Mac couldn't wait to get into the sea but the water is too cold for Roy now so he just had a paddle.
