Turning Point

A few of my favourite things

Today has brought the much anticipated return of Bow Wow and Russell!

Bow Wow has been looked after by a K9Mum in Cape Town for several months while Lucie and Lachlan have been in London. He's able to fly back to Britain with us now that the quarantine laws have changed.

We drove to Table View, where Bow Wow been staying with Dominic and Tonia, their own two dogs and three cats. It was wonderful to see that he'd been so well looked after and had made friends with the other animals - this led to a rather emotional goodbye.

It was interesting to watch Bow Wow's reaction as he arrived home. He immediately started to sniff excitedly around familiar places in the garden. He seems to have become calmer, although it wasn't long before he leapt into the pool with legs fully splayed. We went for one of our favourite walks through Groot Constantia - it was so much more enjoyable having the dog with us. A passing lady commented on how happy I looked - that said it all!

Russell arrived home this evening after spending the last three weeks working in Kenya, China, Inner Mongolia and Japan. He was very tired but delighted to be back in the warmth of CT as opposed to the -25 degrees that he had just left behind. He very thoughtfully brought us all unusual gifts - mine is a green silk handbag with bamboo handles, which I adore. We drank tea and ate some delicious Japanese sweets made from bean curd while hearing of his news and adventures.

Bow Wow is an africanis. He was abandoned in Imizamo Yethu township as a very young puppy. Lucie and Lachlan found and fell in love with him at DARG (domestic animal rescue group) and decided to take him travelling around Africa.
