Robin at large

Low Tide, Wet World

After a reinvigorating couple of cups of coffee we went for a drive down the coast. We called in at a couple of small fishing ports, Johnshaven and Gourdon.

In Johnshaven a small fishing boat had just come in so we watched the unloading of crabs and lobsters. They were alive at the time, by the end of the day they will probably have ended up on a plate. The fisherman said one particularly large lobster was probably about 30 years old.

Gourdon is a larger port for fishing boats, there are several fish shops along the harbour. One of them can be seen in the background of this photo. At least one has a restaurant attached. There was not much activity while we were there. We did notice fish being gutted, so some must have been landed this morning. We also saw fish being loaded onto a truck.

After half an hour or so we were pretty chilled and so returned to the car for some warmth. As well as being cold it has also rained for most of the day, so we retired to Ask for a warming pizza, though the pizzeria itself was also quite cool. Time to warm up now!
