Party time?

Another bright day dipping around in the mudflats with kids, buckets and spades.

Another wading bird. This time Haematopus ostralegus, the Oystercatcher. Beautifully coloured bill.

They're meant to be noisy and excitable and come together in large numbers for 'piping parties'. Sadly, this one was on his own and wandering around quietly. I'd have enjoyed a party on the beach.
