Jann Denise

Prawn trawler Jann Denise passing east through Muirtown Locks en route from Irish Sea to Moray Firth and beyond. Last known post was Peel. Went down to Muirtown with a totally different target in mind but was distracted by watching this vessel pass through the locks of the Caledonian Canal at Muirtown (Inverness). Of several shots I chose this because it best shows all the paraphernalia of a working boat. It's a miracle it's still afloat as it was built in 1988 at Pembroke Dock and registered in Scarborough. It foundered in 2004 with the loss of both its two crew and was the subject of a marine accident report. I haven't read the report in any detail (it's available on the web by searching for the ship's name on google) but it does say that unusually it was recovered from the seabed.
