Between fen and mountains

La source

Whenever I see a spring in France, it reminds me of my favourite French book and film, Marcel Pagnol's 'Manon des Sources.' This spring was almost lost but not hidden deliberately as in the book. Ten years ago it trickled out of the side of the mountain above the village and people would shove a cut off plastic bottle into the side of the rock to make it flow better. Now the Council has made it into a proper watering hole. It is not one of the hot, sulphurous springs that feed the Thermal Spa. The water is cold and fresh but I am told the quality can dip after heavy rain. Mrs TT certainly gave her approval.
