How to spend a Bank Holiday

Today's blip is part of an occasional series on cultural difference. Cafe culture is certainly different between the UK and France. So, I think, is the way people decide to spend their Bank holidays. The shops are all shut today so there are no excursions to retail parks. In fact, an attempt to open the large Auchan supermarket in Perpignan on a Sunday was scuppered recently. The law is quite strict on this. Retail therapy does not seem to exist as a concept here in the south. This afternoon we went for a walk out of the village, clambered across the stones to cross the river and were walking back along a wooded path. As we came to the village, just below the path, we heard laughter and accordion playing and then passed this family enjoying themselves. It was such a merry scene that I asked if I could take a photo. Now that is a good way to spend a Bank holiday!
