Orange-tip trip

Today was the day for the orange-tip guided walk along the river Ouse. A dozen people turned up but within half an hour the sky was black and then it started to rain. We eventually made it into Lewes somewhat bedraggled having seen a couple of sparrowhawks, a few buzzards and a yellow hammer but no butterflies of any description. However, right at the end of the walk on a patch of cuckoo flowers we found two bright orange, rugby-ball shaped orange-tip butterfly eggs so everyone went home quite satisfied.
