Lathyrus Odoratus

We're going to get wet...

This young oak is interesting because it stands in the middle of a circular ditch enclosure. I found this feature two years ago when a heathland fire swept over this area and cleared much of the gorse. Some people started thinking Iron Age hut but I'm convinced its nothing more than a ditch around an army field kitchen - seems plausible since this is an old army training ground.

Got home to find that four of my images from the commons are to be used in an exhibition about heathland vegetation, which is nice. Also had a rash of bookings for my guided walk so the rehearsal was worthwhile.
