Mission Accomplished

One of the main targets of this trip was the Great Grey Owl - and we found this very superior looking example high in a tree beside a farm track half way between Oulu and Kuusamo. Having observed him (or her!) from a distance we were able to wander right up to the tree and look up - as the owl looked down.

We were clearly seen as neither threat nor prey - so s/he just watched us.
