Virga

The edge of a thunderstorm over the Forth early this evening.

Shortly after this was taken there was nothing visible as heavy hail enveloped the local area to be sporadically interrupted by lightning and thunder.

'Virga' is the meteorological name for precipitation from clouds that evaporates before reaching the ground. Unfortunately, this state of affairs didn't last long.

And 'Yes', the seagull was there in the camera image and not added later.

The hill visible at the botton is Berwick Law behind North Berwick, East Lothian.
