Ladies of Leisure

Whilst this ladybird was leisurely basking in the sun today, my lady was with her friends in Chelsmford on a cupcake decorating class.

Meanwhile, the girls and I were busy cycling, climbing and running in the Highwoods Country Park, Colchester and that was all before lunch.

We enjoyed a picnic in the woods, on one of the benches, keeping a close eye on the squirrels, just in case. Blue tits flitted amongst the small branches of a hawthorn tree and the sun came and went, bathing us in warmth and then leaving us to fend off the chill of the wind.

A short walk away is the wildlife pond, where we found quite literally hundreds of tadpoles and over an hour of fun, dipping for wildlife. In amongst the hundreds, we did find a single dragonfly larva, but it is early in the season yet.
