Duck

Last night, after midnight, I took photos of my artist flatmate Anna, as she needed a portrait for American Vogue. Tricky, this portrait thing, difficult to capture the essence of a beautiful friend who hates having her photo taken. But more than that, the stuff that appears in the background, the shadow, the rumpled couch...

Wish I had more time to play and learn these things, but my career is in public health.

This morning, as I cycled to my meeting, I knew that I wanted a duck blip.
Don't ask me why, I have no idea, just a very strong urge to take a photo from the bank of the Water of Leith.

This wasn't the picture in my head then, that was cooler and flatter, but this one is just fine for me today.
