The rest of forever...

Heading in the wrong direction...

So the day went like this...

We woke up, did a few final bits of re-packing and were about to munch breakfast when Paul received a phone call to say we had been moved on to an earlier Lukla flight so we needed to race to the airport. Which we dutifully did.

And then we sat and waited...and waited. All flights to Lukla grounded.
We watched the monkeys swinging through the departure room and over the roof.
We played cards and paced about and wrote journals and ate sweets and got bored.

By 12pm we needed to make a decision. If we could get to Lukla today then we might just make it to Everest Base Camp. If we couldn't, then the trip was off as the time was so tight we would risk High Altitude Sickness. So, what to do next?

We decided to head to Pokhara and walk up to Annapurna Base Camp, as Paul and I did at Christmas. It seemed the best trip for the other three in the party...so, could we get a flight to Pokhara?! And would any flights leave for Lukla?!

The final outcome was that no flights went toi Lukla for six days. Good job we didn't wait. And we got to Pokhara on this plane...our guide rang a friend who persuaded the guy in the jeans to come over to the airport and fly us to Pokhara in a thunder storm. Yes, this little plane was flown by the geezer who rocked up in civvies looking a bit tired and Paul and I had the joy of sitting right behind him and hoping to god that we made it to Pokhara in one piece!

And we did. At 6pm we were landing, by 7pm we were eating and drinking beer.
Great trekking preparation!!
