The Bridge Inn

The Bridge Inn on the Union Canal was a rest halt for the barges to change horses and a place to have some food and a drink for the crew. The canal follows the contours of the countryside and doesn't have locks. You can travel now from Edinburgh to Glasgow via the Falkirk Wheel boat lift which connects the Union Canal to the Forth and Clyde canal. The Bridge Inn is a very popular place today to enj0y a meal either in the hotel or on their barge that sails a few miles west and returns back in the evenings. Weddings are popular on the barge which holds around thirty people.
