Muttrah

Day 2 in Oman - Muttrah

First full day in Oman. We headed towards the coastal port of Mutrah. First thing we headed to was the souk. Jen was straight back into haggling, she's much better than me. We did pick up a couple of bargains though. One of the sellers even noticed Jen's necklace she bought last year in Abu Dhabi, which spelt Jennifer in Arabic, we were both glad to finally get confirmation it was correct!

The souk itself has one main 'street' easily walked through in less than 10 minutes but there were dozens of small side 'streets' which we just had to explore! You could easily spend a few hours here, we did!

In need of refreshment we grab a fruit juice, by that I mean your choice of fruit blended up, nothing added, delicious. I had papaya and Jen had a watermelon one.

Next stop was the gold souk, nothing bought here as it was the real deal super ornate gold jewellery. Nice to look at though!

Grab a quick lunch from the Carre Four supermarket (we love this place, so much choice!).

Headed to Bait al Beranda. A museum detailing Oman history from how the mountains were formed millions of years ago to the present day. Really well done actually, the right mix of reading, interactive and video.

Dinner was at Kargeen. A beautiful restaurant where you could sit outside surround by trees with twinkly lights, sit and chat late in to the night. We had a Shuwa (traditional Omani dish of spiced meat wrapped in banana leaves and cook for at least 24 hours), mixed grilled meats and a fish biriyani. All amazing food (can you see a trend here?)
