Crucible Lake

Another stunning fine day, our goal today, Crucible Lake. 7km in each direction, but UP, like straight up the valley sides, so it's estimated at 3-4 hours each way. After endless discussion, it was decided that just Adam and I would go and the others would have a more sedate day. In the end, we all ent, some turned back, and we made it to the lake exactly 3hrs 10 after leaving the hut at 9.40am. What an effort. Yes, very steep. Yes, very beautiful. And yes, absolutely worth the effort. Even our kids both thought it was worth the hard walk they loved it.

We sat up there for an hour and a half, had lunch, went swimming (and yes, it was SUPER cold), and enjoyed the truly spectacular views.

Then at 2.10 we started down, back at the hut 2:40 later. The kids were troopers. 14km of hard walking, just under 6 hours, barely a complaint, and just such enthusiasm for the place and being out in it. Fab to see.

Then again, an early dinner, and theoretically and early night. But with chocolate on board the kids were a little hard to tame, despite the big day. I think they went to sleep at 10, I probably already was, truly buggered I'd have to say!
