Kerrera

Took the small ferry from Gallanach to the south of Kerrera, a favourite island. Never seen so many primroses, everywhere we went, and birds singing all the while including larks and buzzards mewing. Sort of timeless feeling. Walked to the Tea Garden for lunch, down to the beach and Gylen Castle and then back to the Tea Garden for cake and tea. Well worth the walk for their home made bread and cakes.

The Tea Garden has a converted byre for the occasional [their word] rainy or cool day. It has triangular shaped windows, something I've not seen elsewhere. This ruined barn or byre had the same shape. Simple and effective.

Saw the ferry and ferry man on TV recently, Alba's programme about ferries in Scotland, Ferry Tales. Pleased to see fame hasn't gone to Duncan's head and it's still good value to cross for £5 return, £2 for kids
