Miang Kum Blipmeet

Those lovely hands belong to LocalFoodLover Cynthia, who is loving some local food here with her husband Pilpo - Phil - and Laurie and me. Kendall blipped about their meetup yesterday with such a glowing report, I was a little nervous to meet them. But there was nothing to worry about; Phil and Cynthia are both so engaging and open and loving, bright and articulate and the four of us (plus Liza, before and after dinner) had a wonderful evening.

They found their way here to our house on foot and via the local transit system (and on the way managed to see a couple of landmarks I'd blipped). After a tour of our "estate," including the cottage that Cynthia has lusted over, we walked/scooted up to a neighborhood Thai restaurant and enjoyed a lovely meal together, including this appetizer, Miang Kum: each diner makes their own little wrap with spinach leaves, coconut, shrimp, lime, peanuts, ginger, onion, jalapeno and a sweet sauce. Which, come to think of it, could be a description of our time together tonight: sweet, spicy and tangy all wrapped up in a lush succulent container.

It's such a joy to meet face to face people you've gotten to know online and have your meeting exceed all expectations.
