living in a glass house

Sun day Fun day

We spent a brilliant sunny (finally) afternoon with K and her lovelies at Walton Hall. Swings were swung on, animals were seen and heard (and smelled). We discussed the finer points of peacock mating rituals. There were peacocks EVERYWHERE and they were all displaying at the same time. So interesting to watch. Most of the peahens were doing a very good job of playing hard to get which just meant there were a lot of scrappy males around ruffling their feathers. Carl said, rightly so, that it was very similar to Bridge street on a Saturday night. Anyway, I hope when we go back in a couple of weeks that there are a lot of cute little peachicks running around the place!

Here is Cleo's friend A having a heated conversation with a goat. I think it went like this:
A- How are you doing, goat?
Goat- Maaaaaa
A- What are you eating, goat?
Goat- Maaaaa Maaaaa
A- You can't have my leaf!
Goat- Maaa

Anyway, I had a brilliant chat this morning with Cleo. Maybe it won't seem that brilliant but it's so nice to have back and forth chat now that she's getting the hang of conversation! It went like this:
C- No like it door.
Me- No? What do you like then?
C- Cake!
Me- What else do you like?
C- Chicken.
Pips (crisps).
Mama pips.
bi-kits!

Isn't it great that she is learning to love all of these healthy foods!

Also, the boy had his first proper giggles tonight! He has been leading up to it for some time with a "heh" here and there but there were lots of laughs this evening with the girl and I taking turns blowing raspberries on his belly. :)
