L'escargot, Saint-Laurent de la Cabrerisse

Saint-Laurent is a thriving village in the Corbières; the local cave coopérative makes excellent white wine. The part of the village known as "l'Escargot" (the snail) is the remains of a 14th century fort. Inside, the streets form a spiral, hence the name. This building is in the central square, or rather circle. You can see a snail emblem on the right. The ground floors of these houses used to house animals, most likely goats or donkeys.

I had a bad day today. Too much work, too little time, and can you believe that after a week of no service, those idiots at Orange still haven't sorted out the problem with our phone? Their customer "service" (I use the term loosely) told me today it would take two weeks, despite the fact that there's nothing physically wrong with it. They've just messed up our contract. The words "piss-up" and "brewery" sprang to mind.

Anyway, I needed to get out of the house to calm my ire, so blipping was a good excuse to spend half an hour strolling around St Laurent, which I haven't really explored before. Then home for a chilled glass of rosé. Santé !
