Merry go round

So, the Pujas finally come to and end. And I almost become who I was back then. It is not surprising.

Red is definitely Calcutta's favourite colour. It is predominant in clothes people wear, especially the women.

Had an interesting day with an old school friend who is working in the city. Visited all the Pujas we used to, as children. And despite the massive crowds, and the number of policemen on the roads, the atmosphere was peaceful. People were friendly and willing to cooperate.

And of course, there were the beats of the traditional drums or dhaks and strong fumes from incense sticks called dhuno. All this makes for a rather surreal and heady atmosphere. One that is ephemeral, but returns each year.
