Queens Cross Church

One of Glasgow's iconic buildings, this is Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Church at Queen's Cross.

Commissioned from Honeyman & Keppie in 1896 by the Free Church of St Matthew, it was built at the same time as Glasgow School of Art. The exterior is unmistakenly Mackintosh, as is the wonderful interior. Many things about it reminded me of churches in Finland by Lars Sonck.

On my visit, I was fortunate to meet the Director of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society, Stuart Robertson, and spent a fascinating hour learning about the church and the Society.
