A Catmas Carol by Emerson

'Twas a few days before Christmas
and there Emerson sat,
Not particularly enjoying
the collar or the hat.
"I'd rather be mousing!"
Of this he's quite sure...
"But she asked me so nicely,
I just had to endure!
Tonight when she's snuggled
All warm in her bed,
I'll creep down the stairs
and fill the mousies with dread!
I just like to chase them
When the house is all quiet
And leaving them on her pillow
is just such a riot!
But Christmas is coming
So I'd better be nice;
I'll give a reprieve
to all little mice.
Now, I'd just like to say
Before she turns out the light;
Merry Christmas to All
and to All a good night!"
