Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

The winter solstice

For the most part it has been a damp, cold, cloudy, dark day. However, as the sun sank on the shortest day of the year, the clouds parted a little and for a few minutes colour returned to the Earth.

Hereabouts, the sun rose at 08.46 and set at 15.27, giving us daylight for just 6 hours, 41 minutes. By Christmas day, day length will have increased by a whole minute. I feel better already!
