Cry for Justice: A Prayer Vigil

Maybe we have arrived at a new civil rights movement. Sue and I loved being in the Allen CME Church Saturday to hear some deeply inspiring prayers for justice, for change, for police accountability, and for safer streets for children and all people of color.

In the front pew, on the left, is Avel Gordly, first African-American woman elected to the Oregon senate; in the middle is Dan Handelman, who runs Portland Cop Watch, and to the right is the father of Aaron Campbell, who was shot and killed in 2010 by the Portland police. In the next pew, to the right of Handelman, is Teressa Raiford, one of the activists involved in "Don't Shoot Portland," a response to police killings of unarmed people of color.
