Unimaginable scenes on the streets of Glasgow

After our Christmas lunch I got a call to say that there had been a terrible accident in George Square, where six people had been killed and around eight had been injured.

I believe an out of control council bin lorry had crashed into a crowd of Christmas shoppers, as they waited to cross the road outside Queen Street station by the Millennium Hotel.

There was a somber mood in the city centre, which had been cordoned off to allow emergency services to operate in the area.

At this festive period, these are unimaginable scenes in one of the busiest parts of the city.  My heart goes out to those affected by this horrific accident.
