A time for everything

On the road

Monday
Not the best quality - taken through the car window - but slim pickings today as we were in the car most of the day, traveling from Little Rock, Arkansas to home. We left the hotel around 9am, and traveled east on I-40 through Memphis, where I snapped this barge as we crossed the Mississippi, on to the outskirts of Nashville, where we picked up the I-65 and headed in a north-easterly direction to Louisville and joined I-71 for the final leg of our journey, arriving home about 8pm. The journey went pretty well on the whole, except for a 45 minute delay in the middle of Tennesee, where a tractor-trailer had overturned, spilling its load of steel girders, so they had a crane in the central reservation lifting them up, and traffic was down to one lane, sneaking by on the hard shoulder. Strangely enough, we were delayed in about the same area the last time we returned from Houston! Soon after we returned home we received a call from our son Philip from Afghanistan - he is in the Air force and has just been deployed there - he arrived yesterday and will be there for 6 months.
