(S)Tatue Tuesday

The plaque in front of this statue is titled GABRIEL, and it also has this text; The angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women. Luke 1: 26-28

I SO hope this statue is Mary, and not Gabriel, but I still have a few  questions for the artist.

1. If it is Mary, why not put Mary's name on the plaque instead of Gabriel?

2. Whether it is Mary or Gabriel, who are all these little children huddled around him/her?

3. What is the circled thing the statued one is holding? A halo, a frisbee, or a broken plate?

So many questions...not enough answers.

Ho, ho, ho,...2 days to go!!!

P.S. Now that this is published...I don't like the fact that you can't crop your own picture anymore. Do they really think I wanted the statues head chopped off in the thumbnail? ARRGGHHH!!!
