Light and dark

As we all back off the pace from a full-throttle roller coaster of a year, here we are on Christmas Eve. Presents bought and wrapped, provisions packing the fridge, damson gin nicely matured, everything almost ready for the big day. Turkey and all the trimmings tomorrow.

After one last piece of work emailed this morning, I popped into the village for a convivial lunch with a chum at good old Cafe Rouge. Just as we exited, swapped presents and were about to say goodbye until after Christmas, we were captivated by the light over the village pond. It was this dramatic mix of bright and dark, as the sun shine past dark clouds and the trees looked suddenly black-trunked and topped with gold. Beautiful.
