Bunter Teller

Another Weihnacht's tradition here.  Out to visit the QSM and to enjoy some little treats with some tea.  Followed by a little glass of bubbles.

"Bunt" means colourful and "Teller" means plate.  It's "bunter" because there is no article and one declines adjectives here.  So you say "Der Teller ist bunt" - the plate is colourful.  But "the colourful plate" would be "der bunte Teller" and "a colourful plate" is "ein bunter Teller".

It brings to mind the line from Mark Twain in his book "The Awful German Language" - " I heard a student in Heidelberg say, in one of his calmest moods, that he would rather decline two drinks than one German adjective."
